Great news! The mountain is open to the bottom and it’s been snowing all day today! Peter has skied Wednesday, Sunday and Monday since Killington opened last week, beginning on the Glades (North Ridge) with the ‘catwalk stairway’ ascent/decent, to the opening of Great Northern this weekend, so we now have skiing to the bottom.
They have been cranking out the snow on Superstar day and night for over a week now getting ready for the Women’s World Cup event coming to Killington in only 2 weeks! It is impressive! The amount of snow depth they are putting down, they have doubled up the guns and it’s looking so good they are definitely on line to pull it off for another year. Temps have been just right to get the job done! yea!
We have been BUSY! The cold and snow has made the shop come alive with skiers who want their gear now ! and are looking for warm layers! Saturday Peter couldn’t keep up with the mounts!
PK has been skiing K2 Pinnacle 88’s, his new favorite ski. Speaking of ‘doing the job’, and ‘being impressed’, he is loving this ski! Below is his ‘ski report’ for the first 3 days… the season is upon us!
PK Day 3, Ski Report, Week of Nov 13
The best snow so far this season and top to bottom to boot! Skiing in the first snowstorm off the year was fantastic.
One inch of freskies on top of a velvet base made for some quiet round turns. The cover on Mousetrap was really deep and untracked. Lot’s of fun making deep tele turns. The temps will be moderating this week so conditions should remain really good. Killington is going all out with snowmaking on Superstar and the World Cup preparations are coming along nicely.
